Despite all the difficulties experienced in the wine industry and knowing all this, it is impossible not to appreciate the producers who still set out on this path. Sagavin, founded by a banker who started his career as a finance professional and was fascinated by the magic of wine production, is one of these examples.

Sagavin, which takes its name from the combination of the words saga, meaning epic, and vin, the root word for wine in many Western languages, is one of the micro-scale producers. Sagavin, which continues to produce wine with its founder who is the locomotive of the business and his close circle of supporters, produces wine with grapes, some from its own vineyards, and some from contracted vineyards.

The best way to understand how difficult wine production is is to experience this process for a season. If you have your own vineyards, you already have a farmer's hat. You have to be ready for all kinds of climate and nature surprises, from the first buds of the vines to pruning, to combat pests with methods that comply with the rules of the production method you have chosen, to frost events that catch you unprepared, to rain that does not fall on time, to rain that falls untimely, in short, to all kinds of climate and nature surprises. When everything happens and your clusters appear, make the thinnings, follow the ripening and harvest at the most appropriate time: You must complete all these difficult steps before you start making wine. And only after all this is done, it is time to start making wine.

Wine is an expertise in itself. Even if there are general truths and rules, wine is an artisanal product whose subjective side predominates. Moreover, you do not produce your product just for yourself. There must be wine lovers who will like your wine so that the product has a chance to sell and your winery can achieve the financial balance to survive.

Sagavin overcomes all these difficulties and offers wine lovers with its seven types of wine. With its production of approximately twelve thousand bottles, this is a micro-enterprise that provides an opportunity for an entrepreneur who prefers to do what he loves to manage and enjoy working, and to gain a customer base who has a strong bond with the wines he produces. Naturally, administrative difficulties are added to the difficulties of production. It is not easy to produce wine in our country. Moreover, the fact that alcohol is involved virtually legitimizes the imposition of almost any additional tax burden.

Uğur Aslan does not regret leaving banking and choosing wine production as his main business. You can understand that he loves what he does passionately from the way his eyes shine when he talks about his job and products. His greatest asset is having family members who support him with great devotion to make this business continue successfully.

As you know, we only include Turkish wines in the WAYANA menu, and our guests can buy all our wines by the glass if they wish. WAYANA menu includes three Sagavin wines, one rosé and two red. As Sagavin's portfolio grows, we will enjoy sharing its new wines with wine lovers.

Good luck SAGAVIN!
