ÇAL Vineyard Route
A New Wine Route for Wine-Lovers |
The first vineyard route in Turkey opened in the Thrace region about ten years ago. It is meaningful that such a project was carried out under the leadership of the Thrace Development Agency at this not-too-distant time, when anti-wine sentiment has not yet reached to its current level. A couple of years later, we were happy to learn about Urla Vineyard Road—implemented under the leadership of local producers without any official support. Another good news came from Denizli this year. Çal Vineyard Route, a joint initiative of four producers in Çal district, offers a brand new alternative to wine lovers. May the path of Çal Vineyard Route be clear. We hope that it will breathe a new life into Turkish winemaking and will continue to expand with the participation of the region’s remaining producers. |

A New Winery at WAYANA Menu:
AKBERG
|
In our latest menu update for December, we added a new winery from Izmir: AKBERG. We first noticed Akberg—differentiating itself through a terroir-first wine production approach—with a red wine made from Ercis Karasi grapes. We only recently had the opportunity to survey Akberg’s entire product range and settled on 12 of their wines for the WAYANA Menu. Another indigenous grape that Akberg pioneered in winemaking is Osmanca. We strongly recommend checking out Akberg's wines on your next visit to WAYANA. |

Color Change in Aging Wine
What was it? What is it now?
|
We mostly drink the wine we buy in a short timespan. However, we all know that wine tends to mature and some wines become more valuable as they age. As a living organism, structural changes occur in wine even if we strictly adhere to correct storage conditions. The most easily noticeable of these changes is the color of the wine. Let's take a detailed look into how the color of wines change as they age. |

From Dean Martin's Voice:
HEY BROTHER,
POUR THE WINE!
|
It wouldn't be inaccurate to call "Hey Brother, Pour The Wine" perhaps the most cheerful of all wine-related songs. We are used to listening to this song from Dean Martin, which is easy to sing along and pleasurable while both listening and singing. But the composer of the song, Ross Bagdasarian, is in fact the child of a family of vineyard farmers. In the following years, he also took up both viticulture and wine trading. Click the link below to enjoy Dean Martin's "Hey Brother, Pour The Wine.” |
