Of course, we closely follow the articles and books written by academicians on wine. It is very sad to observe that the researches conducted in this field in our own universities have decreased dramatically in the last five years due to the decisions taken at the administrative level of our country. Of course, this will change over time, and we believe that the articles written by our own academics in this field will come to the place they deserve in time.

You know, WAYANA is our wine house in Kadıköy. Our guests are individuals who value wine and deserve the title of wine lover. With this aspect, we try to know and describe our guest profile very well.

One of my recent readings was written with an approach conducted in Australia that examines wine drinkers in four groups under the heading 'Wine Tourist'.1. Bu dört başlık ve temel özellikleri kısaca şöyle:

  • Wine Lover: A member of the group that knows wine, exchanges ideas with professionals about wine, cares about wine and food pairing, attends wine events and tours, and enjoys visiting producers.
  • Wine Interested: A member of the group who attends wine tastings, likes to eat, travel and socialize, and enjoys participating in wine tours and activities with friends.
  • Wine Curious: A member of a group that drinks wine but sees wine only as a complementary product, and participates in wine-related tours and events, not primarily for wine, but alongside or as an alternative to any other activity.
  • Disinterested Wine Consumer: A member of a group that participates in wine events and tours as part of a group, drinks wine but is not interested in wine culture.

The above grouping actually makes it easy for all of us to find out which group we belong to. We can easily distinguish which group our guests visiting WAYANA belong to. We also have experiences such as watching the group change process of some of our guests and sometimes being a part of this change. In fact, our first priority is to make WAYANA a meeting point for guests who care about wine culture.

We will continue to write about it.
