Recently, I sent an e-mail to a wine professional whose book and site I had seen and reviewed before. Sending the message is at the initiative of the sender; When you type and press the 'send' button, the action takes place. Whether it will be answered is a mystery. One of the quick replies that surprised me came from Andrea, who even visited WAYANA, our wine house in Kadıköy, the day after the message. This post is about our conversation with Andrea and her work.
Andrea Lemieux is a young American wine professional. The strong relationship between his choice of wine as a professional occupation and his arrival in Turkey is surprising. It is obvious that your life is “What should I do?” In the part of his questioning, Andrea decided on a new geography and a new occupation, settled in Istanbul, and fortunately he did so.
We all see that our country has been advancing with an increasing momentum in recent years when it comes to wine. Despite all kinds of difficulties, promotion restrictions and production costs that increase almost every month, those who love wine continue their struggle. I am very happy to realize that Andrea is one of those struggling to bring this internal dynamic of the industry to the consumer, especially the foreign consumer. I see Andrea as a Turkish friend who, independently, supports the Turkish manufacturer with objective comments, without engaging with any manufacturer.
Andrea has a beautifully crafted website. Andrea has never fallen into the trap of being well done and stagnating, which we see on websites. It maintains a lively, up-to-date site; is aware that the vitality of the website also provides its own vitality.
I cannot express how happy I was when I first saw Andrea's book "The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine". I was very surprised and excited that he took the heavy burden of both the intellectual effort spent on the book's creation and the financing of the book.
