Our Southeastern Anatolia region is also home to the Assyrians who have lived in these lands for centuries. The policy that did not allow Muslim people to make wine for religious reasons during the Ottoman period did not restrict the activities of the Christian population in this area. In fact, thanks to this flexibility, the chain did not break in the transfer of wine production from generation to generation, and winemaking continued as a part of families' own consumption and social relations, even though its commercial identity did not come to the fore.
Öğündukköy, with its current name in Şırnak region, is home to Midin Wines. Midin is actually the old name of the village. One of the best ways to keep this name alive is to make it a brand; The Salibas family has already done the same. You will remember from our articles that when we refer to the history of wine: this region historically lies within the triangular region stretching from the Caucasus to Mesopotamia, where first wine appeared thousands of years ago.
The Hell Creek (Cehennem Deresi) wine produced by Midin Wines is made from bilbizeki grapes, which is also the title of this article. The vines on which Bılbizeki grapes grow are between 60-150 years old, and their relationship with the soil has a respectable dimension. The grape has an ellipsoid form with bright green colored grains when it is on the way to maturity. The bunches are loose and the grape has a five-part leaf structure.

Bilbizaki has two harvest periods. When we come to August, some of the grapes mature and become ready for harvest. The remaining grapes ripen at the end of September, sometimes even the beginning of October. This means an extra room for movement for the winemaker.
We mentioned at the beginning of the article that Midin Wines named the wine made from Bılbızeki grapes as "Hell Creek (Cehennem Deresi)". The wine is produced in steel tanks with natural yeast, no barrel application. With its straw-yellow color turning to golden, Hell Creek is a fruity wine with peach and orange-inspired aromas. It has medium to high acidity, high alcohol content, and you can feel the taste of citrus peel and peach when you sip it. Hell Creek is a wine that wine lovers who love white wine will consume with pleasure.
