Ada Karasi is the endemic grape of Avsa Island on the southern shores of the Marmara Sea and part of the main land close to this shore. The name actually describes both its color and its hometown very well, doesn't it?

The clusters of Ada Karasi seem to have wings. The grapes on the cluster in a conical shape are arranged so tightly that there is almost no space between them. It is coarse-grained, thick-skinned. Producer-friendly Ada Karası is an easy-to-grow, easy-to-care grape. It does not need much water except when it is first planted. There are places where it is grown outside the Marmara region, which is its homeland. Ada Karasi matures at the beginning of September in Avsa Island, Erdek and Balıkesir, and in the middle or end of September in other regions. It is observed that there are differences in the taste of grapes depending on the temperature of the region where it is grown.

Ada Karasi wines are dark colored, soft-drinking and medium bodied. The aromas of raspberry, citrus, clove and black pepper are felt in the nose. It has medium acidity. It produces delicious wines to be consumed cool in the summer months. Ada Karasi wines are suitable for ripening.

An application was made to the Turkish Patent Institute for the registration of Ada Karasi grape, the application was examined and found appropriate. You can reach Avşa Ada Karasi Grape Geographical Indication Registration Certificate from the link below.

Buyulubag and Bortacino Wineries, which have production facilities on Avsa Island, produce rosé and red single variety wines from Adakarası grapes. Buyulubag also produce a blend red wine of Ada Karasi and Cabernet Sauvignon in addition to the single variety wines.
