WAYANA Wine House in Istanbul Kadıköy offers wine lovers a rich selection of Turkish wines with a wine menu exceeding 400 varieties. With the wine tasting events we organize, we aim to bring wine to large audiences and to spread the wine culture through our website.

We organized our article titled Noble Grapes in two parts, the first part dedicated to 9 grapes for red wine. This one, the second part focus on 9 grapes for white wine. You probably remember that we are talking about a wine group of 9 red and 9 white wines that best represent the common characteristics of more than 10,000 wine grape varieties. Among the criteria we include in wine tasting, the 9 grape varieties that most broadly represent the common characteristics of white wine grapes in terms of acid, sugar and alcohol ratio, body and tannin structure are as follows:

  • Pinot Grigio

It is an example of a light, lively, flavorful, highly acidic white wine.

  • Riesling

It is suitable for making both dry and sweet wines. It stands out with its aromas of lime (lime), honey and apricot. It is highly acidic.

  • Sauvignon Blanc

It produces highly acidic white wines dominated by green fruit and green herbs.

  • Chenin Blanc

It is an example of a vibrant, delicious white wine with a floral and lemon scent.

  • Muscat (Moscato)

It produces white wines that stand out with the scent of peach and orange blossom.

  • Gewürtztraminer

Both dry and sweet white wines with ginger and honey flavor are obtained.

  • Semillon

Dry, medium bodied white wines with lemon flavor are produced.

  • Viognier

It is an example of a medium bodied wine with a floral scent.

  • Chardonnay

It is an example of a full bodied dry white wine.

Noble Grapes are also called International Grapes. The fact that this group has come to such a position is related to the privileged place that France has acquired in the wine world. Almost all of the grapes on the list are grapes that came to life in the French territory or became local after moving there. The position that French wines have acquired over time has encouraged the cultivation of these grapes in different geographies and the grapes have become a brand.

All of the grapes in the Noble Grapes group are grown and processed by the wine producers in our country.
