It would not be wrong to think of table and wine grapes as two separate groups. In fact, the distinguishing features of these two groups are very plausible. Table grapes that are suitable for eating stand out with their thin-skinned, few-seeded, medium and coarse-grained sides. Wine grapes, on the other hand, are thick-skinned, multi-seeded, and generally small-grained. But here, as everywhere, exceptions do not break the rule. There are some grapes that are in-between, suitable for eating both fresh and dried, as well as making fine wines. Göküzüm belongs to this hybrid group. Its grains are thin-skinned, delicate, fleshy, juicy, green-yellow in color, spherical, with 1 or 2 seeds.
WAYANA Wine Bar in Istanbul Kadıköy is our family business. We include more than 400 of Turkish wines in the WAYANA Wine Menu. Among these wines are those made from both local endemic grapes and those made from internationally recognized grapes. Another distinguishing feature of WAYANA is that you can order all wines by the glass or by the bottle. Göküzüm wines are included in the WAYANA Wine menu with the signature of two Turkish producers.
Göküzüm is a multi-purpose grape with its scientific name Vitis Vinifera L, which dates back to ancient times and is grown in the vineyards of Mut and Hadim districts of Mersin and Konya respectively. Consumed as table grapes in the local market, it is a quality and sought-after snack grape with its green color when dried, and a productive variety that can produce high quality molasses when processed.
Our country has come a long way in winemaking in recent years. Both producers and wine volunteers, who are devoted to wine, continue to work tirelessly to bring new grapes to wine production. Göküzüm is one of the grapes brought to us by these works. We have already mentioned the fertile identity of Göküzüm above. But it is a fact that the product that grapes turn into the greatest economic gain is wine.
Two wine producers in the Mediterranean Region include Göküzüm wines in their portfolios. Tasheli Winery grows and harvests Göküzüm in its vineyards on the slopes of the Taurus Mountains between 1,000-1,200 meters in the Mut district of Mersin and same goes for Selefkia Winery at Silifke of Mersin. Selefkia Winery has a single variety white wine from Göküzüm. Tasheli Winery produces a natural wine (Amber Wine) from Göküzüm and also a white blend of Aküzüm and Göküzüm. Tasheli Winery has a website:

We would like to thank both producers for their efforts to bring these wines to us.
