On a rainy, dirty Saturday in October, in the early afternoon when WAYANA was still quiet, two of our guests entered the door. Our host friends welcomed us, gave our menus and offered hello wine. After examining the menu for a long time, our guests made their choices and their stay began, which was very enjoyable for both them and us.
The reason why I tell the introduction part with the past with miş'li is that I have listened to these parts from our teammates. When I arrived, the eyes of our friends in the service were shining, it was immediately obvious how much the dialogue and experience they had with their guests motivated them. Afterwards, I had the opportunity to chat with our guests, albeit briefly, and we listened to their observations, which made us all very happy.
A few days before our guests came to us, they drank wine while eating at a pizza restaurant in Kadıköy. When they saw the limited wine menu of the business, they suggested that they enrich their varieties a little more, but the operator stated that the consumer tendency was not in favor of wine. The couple at their side table who overheard this conversation said that they heard that they were interested in wine, that there was a newly opened winery called WAYANA in Moda and that wines could be bought by the glass. Our guests thanked them but thought that the information that the wines were served by the glass was probably exaggerated or wrong, but their curiosity prevailed and they came to WAYANA.
You can imagine their surprise and satisfaction when they came to us and found that the information was correct. Our guests had the opportunity to taste the wines that they knew and liked that day or that they had seen for the first time on the WAYANA menu and had not yet known. Thus, we also contributed to the addition of new labels to the wine repertoire.
When we look at this experience from our perspective, our radical decision to serve all wines by the glass (crazy according to many of our colleagues) has paid off this time. The ideal wine lover profile we envision met with WAYANA and became our guest. Our predictions that our application will respond were correct.
After that, our task is more difficult. In order for wine lovers to meet new wines, we need to keep our wine menu even more dynamic. We realized that we still have a long, thin and wine-filled road ahead of us to walk.
