While planning the establishment of WAYANA, we set ourselves several main goals. These goals also formed the basis of our roadmap. The first of the goals was that WAYANA's main business was wine. In other words, we would not be a place that serves wine alongside food, but a business that serves food alongside wine. This is how the menu of tapas and starters was shaped.
The second of our goals was to serve the development of Turkish winemaking and to focus on meeting quality Turkish wines with wine lovers. Imported wines would not be in our area of interest at the establishment stage.
Our third goal was to offer a wide selection of glasses without forcing wine lovers to buy a bottle. Based on these three goals, we set out with the aim of creating a wine menu that hosts the widest portfolio of Turkish wines as far as we can.
When we opened our doors on July 18, 2022, WAYANA's first menu included approximately 200 wines from 35 Turkish wine producers. When we completed the first 45 days following the establishment, we fulfilled our third principle and announced the most important difference that distinguishes WAYANA from other businesses: We opened all the wines in the Wine Menu to the glass.
As of February 2023, we have reached an eye-catching variety in our menu, which we have rapidly expanded since September 2022: We serve 333 wines from 67 Turkish producers. We are proceeding in line with our founding goals: we only include wines from Turkish producers, and wine lovers can order all the wines on the menu, either by the glass or by the bottle.
Is the development of the menu finished? No, as long as WAYANA's storage space allows, the wine range will continue to grow, we still have a long way to go.
Below, we have listed our wine producer friends in the February 2023 Wine Menu in alphabetical order. Our wish is to share an even more enriched list in our next article on this subject.
