We held the first event of the Endemic Turkish Grapes Wine Tasting Series.

We held the first event of the WAYANA Endemic Turkish Grapes Wine Tasting series on Sunday, February 5, when Istanbul surrendered to the snowstorm, with a small group of participants.

We started the tasting, in which we included four endemic grapes, with Yapincak, the local grape of Sarkoy region. After tasting the wines of Paşaeli and Suvla in turn, we moved on to the wines of Adakarası, the grape of Avşa Island. We have only one producer who processes Adakarası: Büyüklübağ. We tasted Iris, a rosé wine made from the Adakarası grape, and the red wine named after the grape. This time, Bozcaada's Kuntra wines were next. We completed the tasting of the wines of Talay and Çamlıbağ, producers from Bozcaada, and this time we turned our route towards the south of our country and switched to Patkara wines, the local grape of the Taurus. We completed the tasting with the wines of two producers from Mersin, Selefkia and Tasheli.

Our tastings with two variations of the same grape revealed how the touch of the terroir and the winemaker differentiates the wines. We had the opportunity to evaluate how the aroma and flavor change in the processing of the same grape as rosé and red wine, in the example of Adakarası.

Our guests took the evaluation notes of each wine to the Tasting Agenda we prepared for this event. Thus, they both kept a record of the tasting and had the opportunity to create an archive for later tastings.

The second event of the WAYANA Endemic Turkish Grapes Wine Tasting series, which we planned as eight stages, will be held on Sunday, February 19th. Curious wine lovers can find detailed information and buy tickets from the link below:
