Previously BEPPE, now WAYANA established a distant relationship with stray animals. We have developed an understanding that stray animals feel safe, but we are careful not to disturb our service and our guests. We have a cat and a dog who are regular guests of WAYANA. Our dog's name is Kutup, and his visits have become infrequent since he had a recent surgery. The subject of our article today is our cat, her name is Filiz.
Filiz's first arrival dates back to before the pandemic. Gray, smoky, bright, long hair with a light and dark pattern, with long mustaches, it is a beauty monument that many passersby cannot pass without turning their heads and trying to love. And it should not be overlooked that there are features that emerge in parallel with that beauty, such as a slight self-admiration that comes from being aware of her beauty, a distanced approach to the attention shown, and a determination to never be sincere.
While writing this article about Filiz, I re-read John Gray's "Philosophy of the Cat" book. The author reminds us that it is not because of the domestication of cats, but because it finds it convenient to live with humans for its own benefit and its evolution to its current position dates back to the Egyptian civilization period. The fact that the rodents and reptiles that haunt the corn granaries of Egypt are the food of the cats, and thus the convenience of ensuring the food safety of the barns to the Egyptians has become the unwritten protocol of the coexistence of the two species. We continue to live with cats today.
We can summarize our day with Filiz with the following flow:
WAYANA starts service late. We open the shop at noon and start the preparations. Shortly after our arrival, Filiz comes to her own food plate. If there are hangovers on the plate, he makes a start with them and sits on his hind legs, staring at whoever came to the shop early, with a fixed gaze but never looking away. Rarely, these gazes are accompanied by a distinctive meow, but very rarely. After a short while, you feel compelled to quit your job and put the dry food on Filiz's plate. You refresh the water bowl while you're at it, and your morning session is complete.
The future of Filiz's day is shaped by her decisions about which seat in the shop she will sleep in. He mostly chooses to sleep on the sofa near the shop, but he also manages to surprise us from time to time. Like us mortals, he does not consider renting, withholding tax, supplier payment, deciding on new product choices, writing a newsletter, keeping a business alive by developing innovative solutions among his priorities in his life. She sleeps in her place as long as her peace is not disturbed, if any guests come to her bed, she changes her position slightly to make room or leaves the shop with a 'damn you' look.
The next time you come, take a good look at Filiz. There is a recipe for a happy life in Filiz, but it is difficult for us to accept that recipe.
