We held our 4th Endemic Turkish Grapes Wine Tasting Event on Sunday, March 26.
We held the fourth of WAYANA's Endemic Turkish Grapes Wine Tasting series at our wine house in Kadıköy. The first of the grapes in this stage of the series was the EMİR grape that came to life in the lands of Cappadocia, which we know with its fairy chimneys and underground cities. In the first part of the tasting, we tasted four wines made from Emir grapes, which are known for their high acid and mineral taste. We tasted Emir from the Cappadocia series of Turasan, one of the oldest producers in the region, Emir the wine of Kavaklıdere, one of the biggest producers of our country, named after the grape, K Series Emir of Kocabağ, one of the boutique producers of the region, and Colossae Emir wines of Aykut Özkan, one of the producers of Denizli region, and took our notes.
In the second part of the tasting, this time we tasted four wines made from KALECİK KARASI, one of the most processed red grapes of our country, which comes to life in the Kızılırmak basin. The first example of this section was Pamukkale Nicely wine, a sparkling wine application of Kalecik Karası. In second place was Trajan Reserve Kalecik Karası wine produced by Tomurcukbağ Winery, which was established by a scientist who saved Kalecik Karası from extinction. In third place, this time we got to know Anfora Kalecik Karası, a red wine made from Kalecik Karası grapes grown in Denizli. The last wine of the series was Vinkara Mahzen Kalecik Karası, which is made with grapes harvested from the Kızılırmak region.
Our participants took note of their evaluations of the wines on their tasting agendas during the tasting. We finished our event by having a conversation about the favorite wines of the day.
