We held the first event of the WAYANA Single Grape Wine Tasting series.
WAYANA Wine Bar has added a new series to its tasting events: WAYANA Single Grape Wine Tasting. In this series, we evaluate 8 different wine samples of the grapes selected from the selections we have compiled from the wine grapes preferred by both our country and the world. This tasting method, also called varietal tasting, is an event that shows how the same grape can take on different identities and offers wine lovers a new perspective to richness.
We held the first of the new wine tasting series organized by WAYANA at the wine house in Kadıköy on Sunday, April 2nd. In this event, we examined examples of Cabernet Sauvignon, one of the most preferred red wines in the world.
We chose the eight wines included in the tasting, taking into account their different characteristics. Two of the wines belonged to two producers of Bozcaada; We observed how the wines changed in the hands of the producers, even though they were made from grapes grown in the same region.
Another wine duo, this time from the same producer's vineyards on Avsa Island; but one of the wines was made with wild yeast and the other the traditional industrial way. In this double comparison, this time we focused on the difference created by the method.
We selected other wines from different regions such as Denizli, Tokat, Gökçeada and Thrace. We questioned how the region where the grapes are grown is reflected in the wine.
One of these wines was over 10 years old. We made the participants realize how the change that age creates in wine reflects on our palate.
We had a very productive tasting study with a small group. At the end of the study, our participants chose their favorite wines.
The second event of the WAYANA Single Grape Wine Tasting will be held on Sunday, April 16. The eight wines to be reviewed this time will be white wines made from Chardonnay grapes.
