When we say wine glasses, the first manufacturer that comes to mind in the world is Riedel, an Austrian company. Riedel glasses are used in WAYANA, our wine house in Istanbul. But Riedel is not alone in this, of course. It would be unfair not to mention another Austrian company, Zalto, whose delicacy both fascinates and unnerves you while holding it in your hand. Let's also point out that a third strong player from our country has a place in this market. Paşabahçe's brand Nude makes us proud in this field with its competent products.

We have devoted the core of this article to a range of products discussed in the professional wine world of Riedel. Based on the characteristic features of grapes, this series is on the market with the claim that the grapes from which the wines are made give the best results when combined with designs that do justice to their aroma and taste. Well, what are the grounds for this claim of the manufacturer Riedel? Let's look briefly.
In wine tasting, we use our three senses: our eyes, nose, tongue and palate. Our eyes allow us to evaluate the color, tone and clarity of the wine. The fact that the glass is transparent is a requirement for this evaluation to be made in a healthy way. In addition, the aesthetic properties of the glass strengthen our perception. In this respect, all three manufacturers we have mentioned above have dazzling glasses.

Under the title of nose and taste, Riedel states that he developed a design based on three physical variables:
- Diameter of goblet mouth
- The angle where the lip meets the glass
- How far back do you have to move your head to sip wine?
In the 1980s, Riedel recorded how the glasses to be used in wines made from different grapes should be designed in the light of the above criteria, with workshops in which experts in the wine world were a part. The Riedel Vinum Series emerged as a result of these studies.
There is a dizzying variety in the series. A unique design has been made for almost each of the international grapes. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Grüner Veltliner in white wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir in red wines are the examples that immediately come to mind.

As we mentioned before, there is also an Öküzgözü glass designed by Kavaklıdere in collaboration with Riedel. When we look at the interest in wine in our country, we know that it is not possible to recover the financial value of this effort. But at least the fact that we have a producer willing to allocate resources for this venture makes us hope, albeit sadly.
We keep the Öküzgözü glasses in the WAYANA portfolio. When our guests, who want to taste Öküzgözü wine from Öküzgözü glass, express their wishes, we are ready to fulfill their requests with great pleasure. In this way, we all contribute to the reward of the efforts spent in this process.
Let us remind you that we will continue to write about wine glasses.
