WAYANA, our wine house in Kadıköy, has a series of events for wine lovers. It is possible to think of these events we organize for amateur wine lovers as WINE 101.

Wine tasting is among the intellectual activities that wine lovers are very interested in. The huge amount of information that the wine lover accumulates in front of him makes it clear that those who try to find their way need a guide to guide them. When you look at the discourses of the competent names who have spent years in wine, it is not difficult to understand that their learning processes continue without diminishing.

Records tell us that the number of wine grape varieties in the world is more than 10,000. In the "Wine Grapes" encyclopedia, which is considered the most powerful work on wine grapes, 1,368 grape varieties are examined in detail. Details about this book https://www.wayanatapas.com/urun/wine-grapes/ our curious wine-loving friends can contact the link.

One of the ways not to get lost in such a wide range of wines and to get to know wine better is to participate in wine tastings. If taking part in the professional wine world is among your goals, it is useful to consider participating in certificate programs.

WAYANA has a series of events for wine lovers. It is possible to think of these events we organize for amateur wine lovers as WINE 101. We plan a tasting session for about two lesson hours. We devote the beginning of the first lesson to a lecture that touches on the following topics:

  • Our sense organs involved in tasting
  • Wine terminology
  • Wine styles
  • Characteristics of wine
  • Wine tasting criteria
  • Key features of that day's tasting

We plan the tastings as sets of 8 wines. We consider each wine tasted with its grape type(s), producer and terrovar characteristics. We ensure that our guests process the printed Tasting Agenda, which we prepare for each tasting, under our guidance.

We usually take a short break after tasting the fourth wine. After completing the tasting of the last four wines, we want everyone to share the wines that suit their palate.

We observe that the tasting contributes to the participants in some basic points:

  • They realize that the eye check of the wine makes sense.
  • They experience that smelling gives a preliminary idea about the wine, but they can encounter differences when sipping.
  • They explore the relationship of certain characteristics of wine to the regions of the mouth.
  • Their self-confidence rises in choosing wine.

Let's discuss the contents of the wine tasting series that continue throughout the year in another article.
